EFCC SACKS 27 OFFICERS OVER FRAUD MISCONDUCT

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken a strong stance against corruption within its own ranks, dismissing 27 officers for alleged fraudulent activities and misconduct. The dismissals were approved by EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, following recommendations from the commission's disciplinary committee.

According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the commission is committed to zero tolerance for corruption, and no officer is immune to disciplinary measures. Olukoyede emphasized that every allegation against EFCC staff will be investigated, including a $400,000 claim against a sectional head.

The EFCC is also warning the public about individuals using the chairman's name to extort money from high-profile suspects. Two suspects, Ojobo Joshua and Aliyu Hashim, were recently arraigned for allegedly demanding $1 million from a former Nigerian Ports Authority managing director.

Furthermore, the EFCC has alerted the public to plans by suspects under investigation to blackmail its officers through unwholesome means. The commission urges the public to report any suspicious activities to them.
