NYSC Increases Corps Members Allowance to ₦77,000

Great news for corps members! The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that corps members across Nigeria will soon receive a monthly allowance of ₦77,000. This increase follows the adjustment of the minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000.

According to NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, arrangements for the new allowance have been finalized, and the welfare of corps members is a top priority. This is a significant increase from the previous allowance of ₦33,000, which was raised in 2020 after the new minimum wage law was enacted.

It's worth noting that the Nigerian government signed the minimum wage bill into law in July 2024, which led to this increase in the corps members' allowance.
