FCTA Recovers Vandalized Items Worth N1 Billion in Abuja Markets

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has made a significant recovery of vandalized public items worth over N1 billion from recent raids on Pantekar Markets in Abuja. This accomplishment is a result of collaborative efforts between the FCTA and security agencies.

To build on this success, the FCTA has decided to profile pantaker markets and operators in Abuja. This move aims to identify legitimate operators, monitor and regulate pantaker activities,  and curb vandalism in the nation's capital. As part of this initiative, pantaker operators will be required to  register their buyers and suppliers , ensuring transparency and accountability.

The profiling exercise, scheduled to begin on February 1st, will be led by the FCTA and security agencies. Only profiled operators will be allowed to reopen their businesses. The National Chairman of Pantaker Operators, Alhaji Abbas Bello, has pledged full support for the exercise, acknowledging that it will help remove criminal elements masquerading as pantaker operators.
